Thirty-one years ago, the American illustrator and animator Don Bluth created an irresistible baby dinosaur who went on to become, a few years later, one of the best loved characters of a whole generation: Littlefoot. The Land Before Time is the first feature film in a series of fourteen animated films whose main hero is an adventurous young brachiosaurus. This imaginary tale set in an era before history began recounts the story of Littlefoot, a baby dinosaur who is orphaned when his mother is killed by a tyrannasaurus and an earthquake devastates his country, Left to his own devices, he must learn to live. So the young hero sets off for a paradise valley where water flows freely and food is bountiful. But, most importantly, this idyllic-looking place is where he might find the rest of his family. On his way he meets Cera the "Threehorn", Ducky the "Bigmouth", Petrie the "Flyer" and Spike the "Spiketail". With these four young dinosaurs he will share a dangerous and unforgettable adventure. But the biggest peril on the voyage is the encounter with Sharptooh, a gigantic tyrannasaurus who is ready to eat them one by one. For more than an hour, Littlefoot and his new pals must overcome obstacles by defying nature and the cruelty of the enemy. Through this young hero's adventures, the film treats viewers to a lovely lesson in friendship, courage, mutual support and, above all, tolerance and the willingness to open oneself to others. This prehistoric trek into the unknown will introduce young viewers to the mysterious era from the past in which dinosaurs ruled the world. Young viewers can familiarise themselves with many varieties of these big reptiles whom they like so much!
