In this film that takes the form of what in music is called a ritornello – or a recurring passage -, the cat chases the mouse but is, in turn, pursued by the dog, who is being chased by a little girl, who is being reprimanded by her grandmother… This all leads us to the grandfather, who is struggling to uproot the carrot required for the family stew. So they all put their feud aside to pool their efforts to get the better of the stubborn vegetable. But will peace last once the soup has been devoured? Not a chance … unless some other culinary project demands everyone’s commitment. This gentle and playful fable is enhanced by a stylish graphic aesthetic featuring swathes of colour and vibrant lines, as well as original, frenetic gypsy jazz. This short film should be savoured as a family, since, as the film demonstrates, family is the ideal forum for experiences that alternate between strife and wonderful complicity.
