One of the main things that cinema strives to do is encourage viewers – especially young viewers – to dare to discover the other, the unknown and, more broadly, the world. The Fruit of the Clouds is a perfect example: it invites young viewers to observe curious and adorable creatures who look a little like koalas and are confined by their fears to a small piece of land. But thanks to the courage of one of them, the hunger – both literal and figurative – to leave their comfort zone gradually grows more intense. This short film speaks of bravery but also of solidarity and sharing, and it reminds us that facing our fears always
makes us stronger.
Visually, the film shows a very pronounced contrast between the darkness of the forest, which represents the unknown and the fear it generates at all ages, and the brightness and vibrant orangeness of the fruit, which provides both food and comfort. This is a perfect metaphor for the still-limited view of the world that children have.
This is a beautiful adventure to be devoured whole, with family or friends!
