Synopsis :

Patouille is wondering where all the little parachutes that are drifting through the air around him come from... And, in the blink of an eye, he shrinks to a tiny size and slips inside a dandelion seed!

Benshi's review :

Blowing the seeds off a dandelion and watching their elegant flight – now there’s a springtime joy beloved of children and grown-ups alike … But how do these strange little parachutes appear? What happens between the time when the dandelion is a lovely blooming yellow and the stage where it is covered in these fluffy seeds? These are the questions that Patouille thinks about – just like all children – as he marvels at the forms and transformations of nature. Guided by Momo, a big red bird who accompanies him as he pursues answers to his questions, Patouille ventures into the heart of the seed in order to get a close-up view of the plant reproduction process that this short film lays out to us in entertaining and educational style.

The child-like pencil drawings and vibrant oil pastel colours augment the poetic quality of a film made by a trio of animators who have already envisaged additional episodes (see further information). Thus the images that appear at the end of the film of the animated dried flower collection can be seen as an invitation to look more closely at this familiar flower and its little parachute seeds the next time we can’t resist launching them into the air with our enthusiastic blows…

Suitable for :
