Benshi's review :

Young film buffs will be thrilled to renew acquaintances with Lunolin, the little hero they previously met in the short film Fellows. Kids are quick to identify with this budding adventurer, who heads off with plenty of determination to discover the world around him. This short film finds an intelligent way to talk about the path that children take, and make, as they go through experiences that may seem trivial but in fact help shape them. In this little story, Lunolin will become aware of the importance and value of living creatures. At the start of the film, he behaves like a tyrant to his new companions, but he learns to protect them and show them affection. It’s a safe bet that young viewers will get a kick out of Lunolin’s pranks in this funny, off-the-wall short film.

The other things that makes this film so original are the graphic form and even the way the frame is put together. Because the screen is actually split into four cells, with different shapes and sizes; they appear at the top and the bottom, and go either from right to left or from left to right. This format is used astutely and amusingly to advance the storyline, with different elements made more prominent at different times, making this a very novel way to tell a story. Kids will love the film’s twists and turns, which are much more playful and fun, like when a chase spills over from one screen to the next. This is a pacy and hilarious short film that young viewers will adore!
