Colorbirds

Synopsis :

A large forest is home to dozens of colourful birds. Here, each has its own tree, whose colours match its plumage. Except for one little two-coloured bird, who is still struggling to find a place …

Benshi's review :

Colorbirds takes viewers on a beautiful dive into the heart of the forest! The birds live in blissfully simple natural surroundings where the vegetation offers settings the same colour as each one’s feathers. Happy will be the ones who make a matching pair fast. But there’s a shadow over this lovely scene – for what is a bird that has two colours to do when all the other birds are single-coloured? Although he likes being original, the pressure of being different gradually starts to weigh him down. But amid a multitude of melodious chirping, everyone can find a place, even one who thinks he’s alone!

The Colorbirds sketches feature the imaginary day-to-day lives of birds, sprinkled with a generous portion of humour and terrifically infectious joy. Young and old viewers alike will quickly embrace this charming skit and relish the musical adventure. So, time to head for the forest for a colourful and high-flying journey!

The Ugly Duckling

Doesn’t Colorbirds remind you of this famous fairytale? The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen tells the story of a baby duck who is left all alone after being rejected by his peers because he doesn’t have the same bright plumage as them. He is uncannily similar to our little hero when looking at his own reflection in the water. Happily, the story ends well, as the ugly duckling transforms into a magnificent swan.

“Birds of a feather flock together”?

So why do the birds have colourful plumages? In Colorbirds several birds form pairs, the single colours they share attracting them to each other. In reality, males and females are distinguished by their plumages: one is brightly coloured while the other tends to look quite lacklustre. Having such vibrant colouring can sometimes help males seduce females, and its singing and dancing can serve a similar function.
