Benshi's review :

Cowboy and Indian are back for a new imbroglio full of chaos, absurdity and adventure. This time the two friends are not celebrating Horse’s birthday, as in A Town Called Panic, or Christmas, as in A Christmas Panic – instead it’s back-to-school time! This new episode by Vincent Patar and Stéphane Aubier shows the start of the school year with our pair of scatty heroes. Just as they are about to set off on a luxury liner, Cowboy and Indian realise that they forgot all about the resumption of classes. Disconsolate, they reluctantly make their back to school. But the start of the academic year brings a boost when they meet their new geography teacher, Mr Youri. To make lessons more interesting, he has decided to stage a competition for which the prize is an unforgettable trip to the moon. To win, Cowboy, Indian and their classmates, the farm animals, have to work out the exact distance between Earth and the moon. The race is on! And our two heroes pursue victory with all the mad mischief we’ve come to expect from them.

Back to School Panic is like the other episodes in the series, in that it is funny, zany and totally quirky. Frame by frame, the two directors bring to life the little figurines we know so well from our childhoods by giving them highly bizarre personal characteristics. This creates very comical situations and an absolute hoot for young viewers, whether they watch it alone or with their family. As ever, we are bowled over by the incredible animation technique used: the explosively coloured sets are built from cardboard, while the many characters we meet are real toys. And thanks to the stop-motion technique, the miniatures come to life naturally, delivering an astonishing comedy with trademark Belgian humour. Back to School Panic is a short film that can be understood on several levels, which makes it suitable for young and old viewers alike, and gives everyone a great laugh!

Suitable for :

Back to School Panic is a short film that will appeal to the whole family. There are a few swear words (nothing too coarse), which is why we suggest it is best viewed by children aged 6 and up.

Top reasons to watch the film :

  1. Meet Cowboy and Indian, a pair of characters who are funny, bonkers and clumsy
  2. An offbeat plot full of twists and turns
